January 2025 Speaker News

This is our first Speaker News of 2025 and we hope everyone has had a good start to the year. This month we feature feedback on Katie Maycock, Anne Wafula Strike, Mandy Hickson, JJ Chalmers and Sabrina Cohen-Hatton; we welcome Professor Keon West to the website; have some update speaking clips from Sina Kahen, Dan Edwards and Alex Atherton and Dr Allison Edgar has updated us with speaking topics for 2025.

NEW SPEAKER

We are delighted to welcome Professor Keon West to the website –

Keon West is a Professor of Social Psychology and a keynote speaker and an expert on identity, prejudice, and representation. He has published over 60 empirical papers which have been cited over 1800 times in the wider scientific literature.

His research, teaching, media engagement, and social activism have earned him numerous international awards. He has also presented programmes on nakedness and racism for BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4 and Channel 4 TV as well as appearing as a contributor for  newspapers, on radio and on television (including BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Channel 4, and the Discovery Channel) discussing his research and area of expertise. His speaking topics include –

  • Unconscious Bias and Unconscious Bias Training: The Facts
  • Talk about Racism with Confidence
  • Solutions to bias: science vs. myths
  • Representation: from trepidation to inspiration

Dan Edwards worked in education for many years and has held leadership roles in both the secondary and primary sectors, most recently holding the role of Principal at a large inner city primary school until moving into Executive school leadership.

Throughout his journey of leading change, he has used the ethos and values of care and well-being for all to achieve and sustain a positive and creative educational culture within his work. Having left education, Dan Edwards is an actor, comedian, and writer who has devised and written performance work for screen and theatres. He has sent us a new recent speaking clip.

Alex Atherton is an experienced educator, executive coach and leadership team coach. He worked in education for 25 years, over half of which was spent as a secondary school headteacher in large inner-London comprehensives.

Alex focus is on Generation Z, and multigenerational workplaces and recently sent us an updated speech clip.

Sina Kahen is a distinguished innovator, speaker, and author with over a decade of experience in AI, healthcare, and beyond. His career spans more than 50 countries, where he has collaborated with some of the world’s top organisations, including Google, Amazon, BBC, O2, Shell, and DeSoutter Medical.

He has recently sent us his updates speaker clips.
