Sporting Year Ahead
This year has been a big year for sport with the Netball World Cup, Women’s Football World Cup and the Cricket World Cup. To help plan ahead for some of your events over the next 12 months and to give you some thoughts on sporting speakers to coincide with them, here is a reminder of some key dates in the world sporting calendar.
Friday 20th Sept 2019 to Saturday 2nd Nov 2019 – Rugby World Cup in Japan.
All of the home nations will be taking part in the 2019 World Cup but only England have ever won the final back in 2003 under the leadership of Sir Clive Woodward. Whilst a number former players will be based in Japan for the tournament, if you are looking for a speaker in or around the tournament, we are pleased to work with the likes of Kryan Bracken, Matt Dawson, Sean Fitzpatrick, Sir Bill Beaumont and Gareth Thomas to name a few. Steve Thompson will also be in the UK throughout the tournament if you looking for someone for a Q/A interview rather than speech.
Friday 12th June 2020 to Sunday 12th July 2020 – European Championships
This is final of the Men’s European Football Championship which next year takes place spread over 12 cities in Europe with Wembley Stadium looking likely to host one of the semi-finals. Should they qualify Gareth Southgate’s team will look to emulate their semi-final in the World Cup and hopefully go one step further. We do have a number of football speakers we work with but former England Manager Kevin Keegan and World Cup Hattrick Hero Sir Geoff Hurst remain popular choices of speakers.
Friday 24th July 2020 to Sunday 9th Aug 2020 – Tokyo Olympic Games
Following on from the success of London 2012 and Rio 2016, Great Britain will be going into the Olympics hoping to continue its success across the disciplines. We are pleased to work with a number of former Olympians who continue to inspire others through their speaking work. Dame Kelly Holmes, Lord Coe, and Tessa Sanderson are all former gold medallists, whilst Kriss Akabusi and Roger Black both competed in Olympic Games, and are incredibly popular motivational speakers. Outside track and field, Silver Medallist Badminton Player Gail Emms, Kayaker Anna Hemmings and Swimmer Mark Foster are also popular choices of speaker.
Tuesday 25th Aug 2020 to Sunday 6th Sept 2020 – Tokyo Paralympic Games
Proving just a popular as the main Olympics, the Paralympic Games take place a few weeks later in 2020, once again in Tokyo. Inspirational speakers Danny Crates, Marc Woods, Dame Tanni Grey Thompson and Martine Wright would all be excellent choices of speakers if you looking to hold an event to mark the games.
