I Book Speakers – Don’t do Speeches

I Book Speakers – Don’t do Speeches

A number of years ago I was asked to speak in front of an audience of potential clients and my instant reaction was one of dread. My default was, “I book speakers, I don’t do speeches”. However, after listening to a few bits of advice, I did get up on stage and speak and whilst it is not something I necessarily relish doing, I am confident enough now to know I can do it when required.

Speaking, in my opinion, is an art form and it can take many years for speakers to perfect their talks and even then they will constantly add tweaks to it and adapt for specific clients. Many of them still get nervous before they go on stage, but once they are on the stage, it does not show and I can only look on in awe.

So how do you get over the fear of presenting and what tips or advice can help you conquer those fears?

We work with a number of speakers who are working with clients to help their staff and clients to have more confidence on stage and perfect their presentation. Some of these include –

Sam Carrington is a stand up comedian who runs the Smirk Experience and uses his skills as a stand up comedian to explain how you can be more confident and likeable on stage. He has worked with a number of leading organisations including Google, Fulham Football Club and Lloyds of London.

Caroline Goyder is the Founder and Creator of The Gravitas Method, and a respected and in-demand speaker on how to improve confidence and to speak with impact. Her clients range from major companies, through to TV newsreaders and Caroline helps them all to feel their best – on stage or in front of the TV screen.

Richard Newman is a Communications and Leadership Speaker and founder of Body Talk Training, hosting over 1000 presentations for clients worldwide. His speeches include – “Body Language – Body Talk for Business – Can you Walk the Talk?” & “Improving Communication Skills”

These are just a few ideas of speakers who can help, and you will find that many of the professional speakers on the site will often run their own workshops and academies helping organisations to improve their presentation skills and helping to train individuals to become speakers in their own right.
