Bringing you the latest news about our speakers, events, workshops and lots more.
Before the end of term my son and a group of his classmates had a school project to pitch an idea of their own new marmalade brand to the class and the best pitch won. They came up with Golden Bear Marmalade and came second in the whole year – which was fantastic. The impact of the pandemic has seen a growth of people starting their own businesses and whilst Golden Bear Marmalade may not ever hit the shelves (who knows!), we do work with a number of speakers who have taken an idea and build their own businesses – sometimes from their basement at home.
Dominic Colenso knows a thing or two about the highs and lows of performance. By the time he was 26 he had flown a Thunderbird, lost one million dollars, and been fired by Simon Cowell. Beginning his career as a professional actor, he worked extensively on stage and screen before training as a director at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Returning to the front of the camera again, Dominic has sent us his latest showreel about his speaking work.
This is our August 2021 Speaker News Round-up. Traditionally a quieter month for speaking events, this month we feature new books from Helen Richardson Walsh and Chris Lennon, have feedbacks from Anthony Bennett, Matt Ellison, and Eddie Edwards, as well as updates from Chris Roebuck and a link to a recent article by Warren Knight.
Our August Book of the Month is “I’m Fine! Thoughts on Life, Addiction, Love and Health” by inspirational speaker and endurance athlete Enda O’Doherty. Co-written with journalist Dermot Keyes, In I’m Fine! Thoughts on Life, Addiction, Love and Health, tells us about Enda’s journey from his youth and alcohol-soaked adulthood, through the birth of Enda 2.0 — sober and with a passion for helping others — to his new life as an endurance athlete and inspirational motivational speaker.
Everyone at Scamp Speakers would like to wish Simon Weston CBE a very happy 60th birthday. It has been a pleasure to work with Simon for a number of years and his story continues to inspire. 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War and many will remember the QED documentaries that followed Simon’s story, from the severe injuries he received, his road to recovery, and to the wonderful charity work, he has gone onto do, culminating in him being awarded the MBE and CBE for his services to charity.
This year’s Inclusion Week 2021 will take place from Monday 27 September 2021 to Sunday 3rd October 2021. The campaign is organised by Inclusive Employers a membership organisation established to help employers create inclusive workplaces and the week is designed to celebrate everyday inclusion. The theme for 2021 is “Unity”. If you are planning an event that week, either in person or online, these are just some of the speakers we work with who could be of interest.
With COVID regulations now eased in the UK, many of us might be looking forward to returning to the office. However, working from home might have been a lonely journey for many and how do you restore that confidence, to not only return to the office but in some cases to improve confidence in social occasions as we meet people again after a long break. These are a few of the speakers that we work with who talk about confidence, how you can feel more confident, how you can regain your confidence, and how you speak with confidence in front of others.
As the school holidays approach and many of us look forward to a break (albeit maybe in the UK) this is a roundup of our July 2021 Speaker News. This month we welcome new speakers Oscar O’Connor and Dr Stephen Simpson to our website, have news of some workshops run by Anj Handa, a new showreel from Anna Hemmings, and some podcasts ideas to listen to including those featuring Gary Hibberd, Enda O’Doherty, and Bennett Arron.
We have worked with Matthew for many years and will continue to do so. His knowledge of the Speaker Market and ability to interpret our clients requirements is quite exceptional.
He is incredibly thorough in his approach and always goes that extra mile to ensure everything is exactly as required.
I am always happy working with Matthew, he has great credibility, he is very diverse in his ability to make things happen.
Matthew Fisher and I have worked together for many number of years. I have always found Matt to be honest, good natured and willing to work hard always carefully selecting the best appearances to suit my personality and lifestyle. The work Matthew has delivered for me over the years has varied from schools, colleges, attending film premiers, guest speaking to name a few all of which I have lots of memories and thoroughly enjoyed.
